Killing a process in Linux is quite easy . All you need to do is open up terminal , enter the command below to get the list of running processes.

ps -aux
to list all processes .

OR

ps -u
to only get the ones started by current user.

Find the job you want to kill in the list and note the process id from the ‘PID’ column.

Now enter the following command (replace 123 with your PID).

kill 123

wait for a few seconds and see if the process is still running. If that doesn’t work you can force kill it with

kill -9 123
